While living in a world where we think we’ve seen it all and pretend to be jaded by the bizarre, Joel Peter Witkin isn’t afraid to show you beauty through his affinity with death and a flare for the macabre.
He began his career as a war photographer and later moved on to working with corpses, physically deformed models, found objects and unconventional compositions that often mirror religious or classical paintings. With a troubled past in which he witnessed a decapitation, he has shown incredible resilience and an ability to turn despair and sorrow into masterpiece. Source: emptykingdom
