It has come to our attention that Important Things are happening in the Metalverse and we would like you all to take a moment and give your attention to this post right here.
Firstly, if you haven’t visited MetalocalypseNow.com – you really should. There isn’t much there right now, but there is something on the page that should grab your focus immediately: The Countdown.
Do we happen to know what it’s counting down to? Maybe. Are we gonna tell you? Well, no, but we are going to say this:
It is more important than ever that you sign and circulate the Change.org Petition. This is not a drill, lovely dildos. This is the Real Deal. We wouldn’t waste your time if this wasn’t serious. … Okay, maybe we might, but we AREN’T this time. Promise!
We need you guys to get excited. Really excited. Do you remember the buildup that lead up to the Doomstar? We sure do, and we need to see something like that again.
Something is coming, dildos. The question is… will you be ready?
Hates,

The hard work is done, the paludarium is assembled, (though there is one other piece of driftwood that goes in there, but the plate is in it’s place for now) and the upper part is planted. (though the plants are a bit ragged, they should recover though) Turns out, it holds about 7 gallons. not a lot, but it’s fine for some shrimp, a couple Dwarf African Frogs, and a Betta. And astonishingly, a snail has ALREADY found it’s way in there. He’s crawling along the glass right now. He must have hitched a ride on the driftwood with the moss, that was on the old bowl. Just need to add the aquatic plants now, but I need a bit more aquarium gravel first, and a couple water changes to minimize the tannins from the soil before i add the plants. will get that done tomorrow.
The filter was causing be nothing but grief today. first it was taking on air, so i had to seal the hose with silicone, then the output was being finicky and it is now a bizarre mishmash of bits of plastic to get it flowing to the right place, but i think it’s working now. Sadly, the heater did not fit in the hidden compartment like i wanted, so i will have to find a place for it in the tank itself, looking all ugly and unnatural :-/ That, or i get a smaller heater and save this one for something else.
I need to also figure out a way to raise the hood up by about 5 inches, but for now I can prop it up on a clamp at the one end, I can figure out the hood situation a bit later.

it was cloudy here :-/
Christopher Tolkien explains why his father, JRR Tolkien, wrote down “The Hobbit” in the first place, when it was originally intended to be an oral bedtime story for his children.

‘Damn the boy’
I think he was drawn like that to portray the corruption of evil as opposed to the shining heroism of Thor. It’s a quick trick to let you know all you need to know about the characters, even if you’d never seen them before. Plus it helps push the disparity of the two, how Loki would feel he could never compete with his golden boy brother.
I’m sure you will. I heard only the other day that verity was going to be picked up by a marvel writer to appear in their book :)
NASA’s announcing a “major Mars science finding” on Monday. I’m very curious what it will be.
hm…. intrigued.
i really like the advice “write marginalized characters but don’t write about marginalization unless you experience it”
absolutely i think cis people should expand their horizons and write trans characters, but they shouldn’t write stories about being trans. likewise i think allistic / NT authors should write about autistic characters! but not stories about being autistic.
represent us. absolutely. but don’t tell our stories. let us do that.
YOOOOOOO. This is an excellent distinction!

ok, i know the pics are crap, but I am pleased with the results of my mud tower. I will get my actual camera’s batteries charged for tomorrow, and move some things on my desk out of the way. This is where the paludarium stands at the end of the day. I admit i had my doubts in the early stages, but silicone and dirt finish for the TOTALLY WORKED, and it looks very natural looking, I think. I think I am going to try and raise the bottom of the planter up so i have more room for water, it should also help make it look more like the bank of a pond, which is what i am going for, and make it easier for moss to grow. I still need to leave enough room for the roots of the plants, but the pot now is fairly deep, it should not be an issue. Put it in the tank to make sure everything fit (it did!) and make sure the filter hole could be easily hidden with rocks (it can!) so it will be a very natural looking tank with no visible hardware aside from the actual body of the filter. awesome! Oh, and also, I did remove most of the rim, but I still have one chunk that’s being stubborn then a lot of leftover silicone to scrape off. But it will look so much nicer with no rim.
though I am creating a MASSIVE mess to clean up later :p
Paludarium update. Got the aquarium, and ended up going a bit larger than initially planned, I ended up with a 16 gallon (though I dunno, it seems a bit bigger) bowfront. I am going to look into removing the black rim on top but if i can’t do that safely no big deal. but I will need to jury rig something with the hood, hack it up so that it can float about a foot above. Began work on the hardscape, beginning with blocking out the shape with expanding foam. I know it looks craptastic now but I think I’ve just about got the right shape going, though I am gonna be sweeping up foam chips from carving it away for months to come, I’m sure. I carved out a little creek feature and partway down is a larger cavity where i can plant some small crypts and such growing emersed. I am now ready to slather it with silicone and dirt, rocks, woodchips (which will hopefully get some moss growing on them) etc. to make it look natural, and then I can actually begin assembling and planting the whole thing.
Lost silent film with all-Native American cast found
The Daughter of Dawn, an 80-minute feature film, was shot in July of 1920 in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, southwest Oklahoma. It was unique in the annals of silent film (or talkies, for that matter) for having a cast of 300 Comanches and Kiowas who brought their own clothes, horses, tipis, everyday props and who told their story without a single reference to the United States Cavalry. It was a love story, a four-person star-crossed romance that ends with the two main characters together happily ever after. There are two buffalo hunt sequences with actual herds of buffalo being chased down by hunters on bareback just as they had done on the Plains 50 years earlier.
The male lead was played by White Parker; another featured female role was played by Wanada Parker. They were the son and daughter of the powerful Comanche chief Quanah Parker, the last of the free Plains Quahadi Comanche warriors. He never lost a battle to United States forces, but, his people sick and starving, he surrendered at Fort Sill in 1875. Quanah was the son of Comanche chief Peta Nocona and Cynthia Ann Parker, the daughter of Euro-American settlers who had grown up in the tribe after she was kidnapped as a child by the Comanches who killed her parents. She was the model for Stands With a Fist in Dances with Wolves.
You can watch the first ten minutes of the film here. It is over 90 years old, and was produced by, directed by, and stars only Native American people.
This is on Netflix now!!!!!
Exploring The Haunted Manor | Gdansk, Poland
In Gdansk – a charming city in Northern Poland – there is a hill. Some people still calling it “Devil’s Hill” The old legend says that ages ago this little hill surrounded by deep forest and swamps was favourite place for witches and gatherings, during which some nasty types of demons were summoned.
Legend also says that a very big stone on the top of the hill was brought there by a devil.Since 1886 mansion was a home for Zinglers restaurant, between 1925 and 1933 it became a HQ of Gdansk Freemason’s lodge.
After WW2 for a many years it used to be local TV station headquarters, before that many occupants were selling the building as they have been disturbed by ”unknown” forces.
Today the Grade II building stays derelict. No one cares about it. Inside many unstable floors. South wing of building didn’t survive last winter ( two floors collapsed ) whole building still standing thanks to solid external wall.Credits and source: Talkurbex
