A tiny woman and two children were laid to rest on a bed of flowers 5,000 years ago in what is now the barren Sahara Desert. Their skeletons were found 5000 years later with the arms of the children still extended to the woman in an embrace. (Source)
I’ve seen these skeletons before, they’re fascinating. The guy who found them was not an archaeologist, he was a paleontologist out there looking for dinosaurs. Thus, he excavated the same way one would a dinosaur skeleton, preserving the positions they were found, lifting chunks of earth out of the ground in order to keep everything intact.
