I can’t help but laugh at Odin’s “Shutup! No more mushy business!” and the fact Thor and Loki are wtfing all over the place because Odin said he loved him. (And again, I can’t really tell you how much it pleases me that Odin rolls so casually with Loki’s genderfluidity. “My child who is both.” That’s actually a+ parenting from Odin, which is the first time anyone has ever said that non-sarcastically).

That last panel though. Curious. So we know, or have been told, that King Loki is back from the future to ensure the future comes to pass how he wants it. But you know what I’m beginning to think? Maybe the future isn’t actually how he wants it? I mean, here is the first big event that he’s interfered in, a disaster was actually averted instead of made worse by his meddling. He seems upset by it, but cutting out after the because, so that we don’t get a true motivation makes me wonder if something else might actually be at play. And the “you never said that to me!” is simultaneously funny and kind of sad. Like even King Loki can’t get over his daddy issues.

It didn’t really feel like something Odin would say. That’s unusual even when just talking about Thor, let alone including Loki of all people in the praise. Though this is lampshaded, so hey, whatever. Awwww….

But it is all temporary. With Loki’s birth father and allround asshole Laufey back from the dead over in Thor, and Thor being unworthy quite likely due to learning what Loki did in JIM, Angela and Cul wandering around…. Messy family drama of epic proportions on the horizon, I suspect.

- Interesting quote on Marvel’s site today. Gives me a bit of reassurance about AXIS, that Remender understands where he stands at the moment and will respect it. I hope he is uninverted in the end, though, so he can continue the redemption story he started without some outside force taking over. I feel very strongly that it has to come from within, but I am ok with the Inversion giving him a bit of a push in the right direction. The fact that the inversion is kinda being played for laughs in his solo book kinda reassures me on that front, though. Also, he definitely implies that future Loki is not real, but while my thought was character in a story, he’s suggesting something more akin to what happened in Young Avengers, with his doubts and guilt manifesting physically. Though he may be kinda misunderstanding Ewing’s plans there.

So having a look at the full preview and this page in particular, I am even more intrigued. We the Minotaur/Roxxon guy, Enchantress and Ulik, which all have some potential for interesting things, but the things that intrigue me most are Loki with a broken horn and new costume, and what appears to be one of Thor’s circle costume thingies on his belt, Hela and the Hel-Wolf. I think this, especially the Hel-wolf which has pretty much only appeared in Kieron Gillen’s Journey Into Mystery, all but confirms that elements of the story will be tying up some loose ends from Gillen’s JIM run, and I am betting a large part of the story will involve Odinson and Loki resolving things after Thor learns about what Loki did in JIM 645. Also, it just dawned on me that this lady thor’s costume has some elements taken right from King Thor’s costume, mainly the brown skirt thing and the gorget, so i think that’s yet another point in favor of her being Frigg traveling to the past for some reason.

niiiiice. Though I LOVE Ribic’s work, and I am incredibly sad to see him go (though the new artist looks to be pretty good, but… Ribic….) I was actually a little worried about him drawing young Loki since he tends to favor an intentionally HIDEOUS Loki, with like missing teeth and just… goblin like. But this is great. I guess the broken horn on the cover for the Thor and Loki mini was plot related, go figure.

What’s interesting here, though, is the costume. Ribic is pretty good about being faithful to costumes, so if he was asked to draw Loki in his current costume, he would have, I’m sure. but no. only the diadem/headpiece thing remains of his current costume, the rest is either elements of his Siege costume, or is brand new. I think this is a glimpse into the future.

One of my favorite bands in the world is Apocalyptica, and my favorite member is is Perttu Kivilaakso, (the dork with the flourescent green fingerless gloves and Angry Birds hat from a previous post) and I just found this through random sidebar clicking on Youtube. 12 years old. And Apocalyptica didn’t let him in the band for like the first year or so because they felt he needed more training.

In short, understandable words: Scientists have successfully transported words from one brain to another over the internet.

Abstract:

Human sensory and motor systems provide the natural means for the exchange of information between individuals, and, hence, the basis for human civilization. The recent development of brain-computer interfaces (BCI) has provided an important element for the creation of brain-to-brain communication systems, and precise brain stimulation techniques are now available for the realization of non-invasive computer-brain interfaces (CBI). These technologies, BCI and CBI, can be combined to realize the vision of non-invasive, computer-mediated brain-to-brain (B2B) communication between subjects (hyperinteraction). Here we demonstrate the conscious transmission of information between human brains through the intact scalp and without intervention of motor or peripheral sensory systems. Pseudo-random binary streams encoding words were transmitted between the minds of emitter and receiver subjects separated by great distances, representing the realization of the first human brain-to-brain interface. In a series of experiments, we established internet-mediated B2B communication by combining a BCI based on voluntary motor imagery-controlled electroencephalographic (EEG) changes with a CBI inducing the conscious perception of phosphenes (light flashes) through neuronavigated, robotized transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), with special care taken to block sensory (tactile, visual or auditory) cues. Our results provide a critical proof-of-principle demonstration for the development of conscious B2B communication technologies. More fully developed, related implementations will open new research venues in cognitive, social and clinical neuroscience and the scientific study of consciousness. We envision that hyperinteraction technologies will eventually have a profound impact on the social structure of our civilization and raise important ethical issues.

It’s true, SECRET SIX is back.

I could not be more excited. The new officially was announced today, and my email and DM boxes are completely flooded, have never seen anything quite like it. I can’t even begin to keep up or respond to everyone. Cool!

It’s a dream team. Villains United artist Dale Eaglesham has been waiting YEARS to come back to Secret Six, it’s his favorite series ever, and he is helping with designs and covers, and the great KEN LASHLEY, whom I adore and have been dying to work with is doing the interiors.

It’s amazing, I will tell the whole story soon, but EVERYONE dropped whatever they had coming up to work on this book. It was like, “Secret Six? I am IN.”

Catman and Black Alice are definitely in it…they have some cool new twists. And the series has one HUGE secret we reveal in the first arc that will blow minds…it’s a HUGE DCU reveal.

That’s why our motto is WHAT IS THE SECRET?

I am having a blast. This book always pushed the envelope…now we explode the envelope and bury the ashes!
