The very first Little Nemo in Slumberland strip, published on October 15, 1905 in the New York Herald. Written and drawn by Winsor McCay.
One of the great early comic strips, Little Nemo is best known for its detailed and vivid imagery, McCay’s detailed illustrations and his pioneering work in experimenting with panel layouts and design. The book influenced several generations of comics creators. Alan Moore, Art Spiegelman, and Neil Gaiman have all paid homage to Little Nemo in their comics.
