I was having a similar problem in Borderlands 2 the other day… the special power wasn’t firing, and i wouldn’t crouch right, etc. eventualyl I rebound all the keys to match Skyrim’s controls.

It’s not the house, it’s a game engine… quirk. But you can get things to stay put if you follow a set of steps!

Drop your items on the floor, exit the house, save, go back inside. Now move your items where you want them, go back outside, save again, then go back inside, and they should be where you left them.
